Hello Friends, Thank you for visiting our website. My mother, Marilyn Kitchen, lost her life to lung cancer on March 12th, 2007. She was a healthy, loving & vibrant person, and we miss her immensely. In honor of Marilyn’s life and legacy of generosity and empathy for others, we have created the Flowers for Life Foundation. Through our work, we will raise awareness about lung cancer and its causes, improve preventative measures and medical treatments through funding research, and help to ease the suffering of people and families affected by this destructive disease through our outreach and information programs.
Lung cancer took Marilyn’s life less than two months after she was diagnosed. We feel very strongly that early detection is the key to surviving lung cancer, and the Foundation’s first goal is to promote & improve early detection techniques and prevetataive measures. Through our research during Marilyn’s illness, we discovered that lung cancer kills more people annually than breast, prostate and colon cancer combined, yet there is less funding for lung cancer awareness & research than any of the other types of cancer. We will work to improve this condition through charitable endowments and donations. Flowers for Life will raise awareness and improve detection, prevention and research for lung cancer research through charitable events such as the "Walk Through the Flowers" Lung Cancer Awareness Walk, held in Oklahoma City each spring, and the Flowers for Life Art Auction, to be held annually in November, close to Marilyn's birthday. To those of you who supported Marilyn's family during her illness, and for those of you who have given so generously to our cause, we offer our heartfelt gratitude.
